2025 - Official Rules and Guidelines
The Smash Bash League 2025 – 30 Team Format
1. General Conduct
- Court
Banter: Friendly
banter is encouraged, but any form of physical altercation or fighting is
strictly prohibited.
- Disciplinary
Actions:
- Players involved in physical
altercations will be immediately removed from the tournament and banned
from future tournaments.
- Any discounts or
privileges related to court bookings will be revoked
for offending players.
2. Reporting Match
Results
- Responsibility: The winning team
(or the losing team, if necessary) must promptly report the match results.
- Verification: All players should verify
published results and notify the organizer of any discrepancies.
Corrections are allowed only until the end of each round, except under
special circumstances at the organizer's discretion.
- Walkovers: If a team provides a walkover
in the first 2 stages, the opposing team will be awarded
the full 6 points.
3. Substitutes
- Notification: If a substitute is used, the
other team and the organizer must be
notified to maintain fairness.
- Quarterfinals
Onwards: No
substitutes are allowed from the quarterfinals to the finals.
A final decision will be made by the organizer and the opponents if a
special circumstance arises.
Initial Grouping &
Progression
First Round
- 30
Teams are
divided into 5 groups of 6 teams each.
- Teams compete in a round-robin
format within their group, with each team playing 5 games
in this stage.
Second Round Grouping
- After the first round, teams
will be randomly selected to fill 3 groups of 10
teams each.
- In this stage, teams will play
a total of 9 games to earn between 2 to 6 points
per match based on their performance.
- These points will be used to
determine the teams' standings and decide their placements for the final
grouping stages.
Third Round Grouping
- Once teams are placed into
their final grouping divisions (Diamond, Platinum, Gold,
Silver, Out of Bounds), wild cards will be thrown into
this grouping stage.
- Teams will compete within
their assigned groups with wild card teams added to make
the competition more dynamic.
- Based on their performance
and scores, teams will advance or remain in their assigned 5
divisions:
- Diamond
Group
- Platinum
Group
- Gold
Group
- Silver
Group
- Out
of Bounds Group
Fourth Round Grouping
- In the fourth round,
each division group (Diamond, Platinum, Gold, Silver)
will consist of 4 teams.
- These 4 teams
will compete in semifinals to determine who advances to
the finals within their respective groups.
- If teams have the same
points, point difference on wins will be used to
determine the grouping placement.
- An additional group will be
formed for the "Complete Losers", providing an
opportunity for teams that did not advance to compete for a consolation
prize.
Points System
Points Allocation
- Each set played
earns a team 2 points.
- Each game will consist of 3
sets, giving teams multiple opportunities to earn points.
Golden Point Rule
- In the event of a deuce,
after the second deuce, a golden point
will be played to decide the game.
Tie Breaker Rule
- For tied sets,
the first serve will start on the right side.
- The subsequent serve by the
other team will start on the left side.
- The first team to
reach 7 points with a 2-point lead wins the
tiebreaker.
Quarter Finals &
Beyond
- Once teams reach the quarterfinals,
the points system will be discontinued. Instead, teams
must win 2 sets to advance.
- This format will be maintained
for the quarterfinals, semifinals, and finals to ensure
decisive and competitive outcomes.
Incomplete Sets
- Incomplete
sets are
allowed to continue up to the semifinal round.
- In the case of an incomplete
semifinal, teams will need to replay the final set
to determine a winner.
Finals
- All
finals will be booked
and paid for by the Smash Bash League, ensuring a smooth and
organized conclusion to the competition.
